Marina acabou de ganhar mais uma Blythe e agora podemos dizer que nossa coleção começou (nossa, porque eu ando mais empolgada em colecioná-las do que Marina!)!! As duas vieram do Japão, presente da querida Yasuko. Pra quem não conhece, a Blythe foi criada nos Estados Unidos em 1972, mas não teve sucesso, era considerada ‘estranha’ pelos seus grandes olhos que mudam de cor. Em 1997, Gina Garan, produtora de TV e video passou a fotografar sua Blythe em vários lugares do mundo, usando-a como sua “top model”, e acabou lançando um livro com as fotos, “This is Blythe”. Logo depois Blythe foi “convidada” para estrear uma campanha da Parco, uma loja de departamentos do Japão. Sucesso imediato! Hoje as Blythes são conhecidas e colecionadas pelo mundo afora, existem modelos de roupas e sapatos, e as mais antigas custam verdadeiras fortunas. Já que entramos no mundo Blythe, meu próximo desafio é vesti-las de formas diferentes. Será que eu encaro alguma coisa como essa??
Marina just got a new Blythe and now we can officially say that our collection has started (ours, because I am almost more excited than Marina with collecting Blythes!)!! Both of them came from Japan, gift from our dear Yasuko. For the ones that do not know Blythe, she was created in the USA in 1972, but was unsuccessful, and considered weird by many for the “big eyes that switch colors…” In 1997, Gina Garan, TV and video producer, started to take pictures of her Blythe in several places in the world, using it as its “top model”, and ended by launching a book with all photos, “This is Blythe”. Soon after, Blythe was invited to feature a Parco campaign (Parco is a department store in Japan). Instant success! Today Blythe is known and collected all over the world, there are different types of clothes and shoes, and amazingly the ancient Blythes are worth fortunes. Since we have already entered the collector’s world, my next challenge will be to dress these little girls in different ways. Would you recommend me to get one of these??
