A Holanda nasceu no G.E, ganhou de um gol de todos seus oponentes (exceto Dinamarca 2 gols). Nós sofremos ao ver a Alemanha do outro lado, derrotada por um polvo vidente num dos mais intrigantes jogos da copa, deixando passar a Espanha. Claro temos uma certa dor de ter visto o Brazil eliminado pela Holanda, mas dessa vez a Oranje vai buscar a copa nunca antes conquistada – e nós moramos aqui. No domingo, vamos torcer pela Oranje, o Matt na camisa do v.Persie e a Mari na do Robben. Também torcemos para que os alemães comam Paul o polvo antes de domingo e, … Hup Holland Hup!

Holland sprouted in G.E and beat their opponents in 1-goal differences (except for a 2-goals difference against Denmark). We had a hard time watching Germany on the other side defeated by a silly octopus and in one of the most intriguing matches of this cup, waiving their way to Spain. Of course a little pain remains for seeing Brazil eliminated by Holland, but this time Oranje goes for the never achieved cup – and we live here. We’ll support Oranje on Sunday, Matt in v.Persie’s and Mari in Robben’s shirt. We hope the Germans eat Paul the squid before then, and … Hup Holland Hup!

A sexta-feira foi histórica, então fomos dar uma esfriada com esse verão de 32 graus à sombra, nunca antes visto por aqui… A camisa canarinho vai sendo esquecida, ou melhor, guardada com carinho para a Copa do Mundo FIFA 2014 Brasil. Enquanto isso continuamos a suportar o time da casa (seja lá da nossa casa). Hup Holland Hup!

After a historic Friday, we finally jumped into the canals for a chill-out (not the dirty ones, of course!). The ‘canarinho’ jersey stays back there in our memories, or better, we save it for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brasil. Meanwhile, we continue supporting the home team (read, the team of the country where our home is located). Hup Holland Hup!

Matt recebeu sua primeira visita da fada dos dentes! E já está fazendo planos de como gastar os dois euros que ela trouxe: quer um novo carrinho Hot Wheels (ainda mais um??). Mari aproveitou e colocou bobs no cabelo pra comemorar o dentinho perdido do Matt, além da vitória da Holanda e o verão que parece finalmente ter chegado!

Matt for the first time received a special visit by the tooth fairy, which was quite profitable… He now makes plans on how to spend the two euros brought by her: perhaps a new Hot Wheels car (one more??). Mari, taking advantage of the situation, fetched hair curlers and got ready to celebrate that special visit to Matt, in addition to the Oranje victory, and summer that has finally arrived!

Ontem visitamos parque de diversões de Amstelveen, e fomos em todos os brinquedos possíveis… (não fomos no “shaker”!) Mari e Matt perguntaram hoje de manhã se eles podiam ir de novo: “Hoje é dia das mães!” Sem perder tempo referimo-nos a Victor Hugo: “…em tudo transformando-se num carnaval constante, não sobra mais nenhum carnaval.”

We visited the Amstelveen carnival yesterday, and went on all possible rides… (except for the shaker!) Mari and Matt asked this morning if they could go once again: “Today is mother’s day!” Right on the spot we quoted Victor Hugo: “… everything being a constant carnival, there is no carnival left.”

We’d rather enjoy mother’s somewhere else… Stick with us to find out where we’ll go!

Semana passada Marina foi para o seu primeiro acampamento com a escola. Matteo ficou tão triste sem ela, e nós morrendo de saudades, 2 dias sem nossa menina! Mas temos certeza que ela se divertiu muito. Mais fotos e comentários aqui: Lower Juniors

Marina went to her first camping trip with the school last week. Matteo was so sad without her, and we missed her a lot… two days without our girl! But at least we’re sure she had a great time. More photos and comments here: Lower Juniors

Dia da Raínha na Holanda, Mari e Matt acordaram cedo para terminar de costurar os últimos artigos que seriam postos à venda: uma bolsinha da marca Smileyface e uma garagem portátil da marca Chillywheels… O plano era vender por 50 centavos de euro cada um. E nós nos fomos ao Sarphatipark, em frente à nossa casa. Ouvimos música, vimos artistas, e muitas coisas para comprar. Matt até comprou um Porsche azul, depois de ter vendido todo os seus artigos, é claro.

Queen’s day in the Netherlands, Mari and Matt woke up early to finish sewing the last items that would go on sale: a purse branded Smileyface, and a portable garage branded Chillywheels… The plan was to sell each for 50 euro cents. And off we go to Sarphatipark, in front of our house. There were musicians, painters, and many things to see and buy. Matt could even buy a blue Porsche, of course, after selling all of his stuff.

Aqui vai um novo desafio para as mães e pais e para as crianças, e este é super especial porque foi feito por uma das alunas do Year 3!

Hoje nós sonhamos que mommy e papi estavam acordando mais jovens, mais vivos e eles disseram: “Nós acreditamos completamente nesta verdade: que vocês são apenas uma recombinação dos nossos códigos genéticos com alguns muitos temperos adicionais.”

Hoje nós sonhamos que entre as muitas cobertas da cama de mommy e papi, nós dois, Mari e Matt, ficamos realmente amigos, e não mais brigamos por nada nesse mundo, e também em nossa mesa de café da manhã (não jogamos cereais um em cima do outro).

Eu sonhei hoje que um dia, nós dois, Mari e Matt, vamos nos surpreender de quão importante é para nós mesmos aproveitar nossa juventude sem pensar em nosso futuro, e que nós entendemos essa verdade como sendo acima de qualquer dúvida.

Nós sonhamos a felicidade para o próximo ano, hoje, e também a prosperidade para nossas vidas vindouras… e que nós vamos respeitar um ao outro, e julgar a nós mesmos e aos outros não pelo tamanho dos ganhos materiais, mas pelo conteúdo dos corações. Nós sonhamos, hoje.

Today we dreamed that mom and dad were rising up younger, more lively, and they said: “We hold this truth to be self-evident: that you guys are a just a genetic recombination of our codes with a few additional spices.”

Today we had a dream that on the many hills on top of mom and dad’s covers, we both, Mari and Matt, became real friends, and did not fight for anything in this world, also on our breakfast table of brotherhood (not throwing cereals towards each other).

I had a dream today that one day both of us, Mari and Matt, will be surprised of how important it is for us to enjoy youth without thinking of our future, and we understood that truth as being beyond doubt.

We dreamt of happiness for the next year, today, and we dreamt of prosperity for our coming lives… and that we’ll respect each other, and will judge ourselves and the others not by the size of our earnings, but by the content of our hearts. We had a dream, today.
